Students who would like to learn basic skills of pottery can schedule a 6 part class in order to acquire enough skills to work independently on the wheel during open studio hours.
Class 1: Kneeding, Centering, Sealing, Measuring Depth, Basics of throwing a bowl. Instructor works with student step by step to ensure understanding. Students can choose to have their finished pottery glazed or they can return to paint their pottery using a variety of colored glazes. Please note that if you choose to return to paint your pottery you will need to pay an additional Stay-n-Play fee.
Class 2: This class is an extension of class one. Students will practice basics learned from the first class. The instructor will monitor progress as students kneed, center, and seal their clay. Instructor will work with students to ensure students understand how to begin their bowl throwing process. Please note that if you choose to return to paint your pottery you will need to pay an additional Stay-n-Play fee.
Class 3: This class is an extension of class two. Students will practice basics learned from the first two classes. While the instructor is monitoring progress the focus is student centered. Students will independently kneed, center, and seal their clay. Instructor will guide students on raising the clay to make a deep bowl or cup. Please note that if you choose to return to paint your pottery you will need to pay an additional Stay-n-Play fee.
Class 4: This class is an extension of class three. Students will practice basics learned from the first three classes. While the instructor is monitoring progress the focus is student centered. Students will independently kneed, center, and seal their clay. Students independently create a bowl or cup independently with instructor trouble shooting problems. Please note that if you choose to return to paint your pottery you will need to pay an additional Stay-n-Play fee.
Class 5: This class is an extension of class four. Students will practice basics learned from the first four classes. The focus in this class is student centered. Students will independently kneed, center, and seal their clay as well as independently create a bowl or cup with instructor trouble shooting problems. Students will also learn techniques to add shape to bowls and cups. Please note that if you choose to return to paint your pottery you will need to pay an additional Stay-n-Play fee.
Class 6: This class is an extension of class five. Students will practice basics learned from the first five classes. The focus of this class is student centered. Students will independently kneed, center, and seal their clay as well as create a bowl or cup independently with instructor trouble shooting problems. Students will practice techniques to add shape to bowls and cups. Please note that if you choose to return to paint your pottery you will need to pay an additional Stay-n-Play fee.
Students progress from class to class depending on skill level and practice.
Students will learn the basic techniques of sewing, parts of the sewing machine, and begin to create sewing projects.
Class 1: This class is for beginners. Students will learn the basic techniques of sewing, parts of the sewing machine, and begin to create sewing projects. Students will create a face mask. This class is for youth as well as adult.
Class 2: Students will practice the basic techniques of sewing, parts of the sewing machine, and begin to create sewing projects. Student will learn how to sew in a zipper to a project. Once students understand how to add a zipper they will create pencil pouch with zipper.
Class 3: Student will practice how to sew in a zipper to a project as well as adding zipper tabs for a more finished look to a zipper pouch.
Class 4: Student will learn how to read and use a pattern. Students will begin a boho shopping bag.
Class 5: Students will continue working on their boho shopping bag.
Class 6: Students will make a bowl cozy.
